Timor-Leste, also known as East Timor, is a small country located in Southeast Asia. It gained independence in 2002 and is situated on the eastern half of the island of Timor, sharing borders with Indonesia to the west and the Timor Sea to the northwest. Dili is its capital and largest city.
The country has a rich cultural heritage influenced by its history of Portuguese colonization and Indonesian occupation. Its landscapes are diverse, encompassing mountainous regions, tropical forests, and beautiful beaches.
Timor-Leste faced significant challenges post-independence, including political instability, economic development hurdles, and social issues. However, it has made strides in establishing governance structures and rebuilding its economy, largely supported by its natural resources, especially oil and gas reserves in the Timor Sea.
The people of Timor-Leste have shown resilience and determination in overcoming the challenges they've faced, striving for stability and progress as they work towards a brighter future for their nation.
